    SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

Many youth and adult Sunday School classes are available, each beginning at 9:45 am Sundays.  You are welcome to visit any of our Sunday School classes and we are confident you will find one that will fit your needs and interests.

Preschool/Kindergarten Class
This class is designed for children between the ages of three through Kindergarten.  It consists of easy introduction to Bible stories, a healthy blend of art, music and playtime.  This class gives the youngsters a good solid foundation upon which to build their spiritual lives.  This classroom is located at the end of the hallway in the upstairs level of the church.

Primary (Grades 1st-4th) Class
This class is designed for children in grades 1st-4th.  We focus on learning the books of the Bible and start learning about the Old Testament and New Testament scriptures.  This age group also begins learning Bible memory verses as well as the foundation for God's plan of salvation, leading to baptism and service in the church.  This classroom is located upstairs on the right side of the hallway.

Middle School (Grades 5th-6th) Class
This class is designed for youth in grades 5 and 6.  The curriculum covers studies of the Bible in the Old and New Testaments, blending lectures with discussion and active participation.  This age group becomes familiar with using their Bibles and begins learning how to be a witness for Jesus Christ.  God's plan of salvation is presented to this age group and they develop a good understanding of what baptism is and how they grow in service with the church after baptism.  This classroom is located upstairs on the left side of the hallway.

Jr. & Sr. High School (Grades 7 through 12) Class
This class is designed for youth in grades 7 through 12.  The curriculum is Bible-based, with a focus on how to become stronger witnesses for Jesus, as well as learning how to live a Christian life while facing the challenges, struggles, and temptations that occur at this stage of life.  Through personal study and group discussions, we investigate the Bibles claims and seek ways to conform our lives to His image.  We also enjoy fellowship times, outings, and various mission works.  This classroom is located at the end of the downstairs hallway.

Young Adults/Singles Class
This class, taught by our pastor, uses a discussion format to examine contemporary issues and problems in light of scripture.  Serious probing, examination, and questioning of issues and biblical texts are strongly encouraged.  This class meets upstairs in the old parlor.

Believers Class
This class was started in the early 1960's as a young adults class, but shortly thereafter, it became simply "The Believers" with no age restrictions.  It remains that way to this day.  This class focuses on teaching and discussing God's love for us and His plan for our lives.  The emphasis through the years has been the absolute necessity for one to be born again through spiritual rebirth and to be filled with the Holy Spirit.  This classroom is located on the left side of the downstairs hallway.

Homebuilders Class
Mrs. E. M. Wheatly, wife of the then minister, organized this class in 1950.  Originally, the "Homebuilders" were young couples who were raising families, as the name suggests.  When the youngest member of the pair reached age 40, it was customary for the couple to "move on" into an "older" class.  As the years passed, however, the members settled into the class, much as they settled into their own homes and came to prefer common interest above age as criteria for class membership.  Enjoying their fellowship of study and work, they have consistently been leaders of projects for church improvement.  They extend a warm welcome to anyone to join them for fellowship and scripture study.  This class meets in the east wing of the sanctuary.

Overcomers Class
This class was a revelation from God to the education department during the 1990-1991 church year.  The Education Committee saw a need for another Sunday school class, especially for people who had not been attending a class and those who did not want to read, discuss, or pray aloud until they wanted or were ready, a class where members could grow together in spiritual lives as they prayed and studied the Word of God.  This class took its name from Revelations 2:7.  "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God."

The membership of the Overcomers class have the assurance of their salvation with the acceptance of Jesus Christ as their Savior.  This class continually asks to be filled with the Holy Spirit and allow Jesus to live His life through each one in class.  They pray and take time to fellowship with God.  They share their faith with others.  The goal of this class is for each member to grow in his/her relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.  Through daily fellowship with our Lord in prayer and Bible study, they know they will have strength through the Holy Spirit to live a spirit-filled life.  Through the Holy Spirit, they will have the boldness to speak out for Christ and share their faith with people everywhere.  This class meets in the church library, which is the first room on the right side of the first floor hallway.

Explorers Class
This class was started many years ago as an offshoot of a Bible study, co-taught by Lorene Nickels and Georgiana Wiles. It has gone through years of transition.  Past studies have included Acts, Wilderness Wanderings, The Glory of Christmas, The Spirit-Filled Life Bible, The Angels Were Silent, and Women of the Bible.  We consistently probe our thoughts as they relate to God's Word.  We are Bibically based, encouraging the use of a variety of translations.  We love one another and employ a strong prayer support group.  This classroom is located on the right side of the upstairs hallway.
